The poor power supply of Namrei 33- KV sub-station in north of Ukhrul district has worried students who are preparing for their board exam scheduled to be held in March.
Namrei station has been out of power since Tuesday and the villagers receiving power connection from this station have been facing frequent power outages inconveniencing the populace. Residents have been urging the concerned department to ensure uninterrupted power supply and act swiftly if any problem is detected so that no villagers are inconvenienced due to power failure.
One Ashon Shimray, who would be writing her board exam, lamented that for a poor student like her absence of current is a huge setback as she had set a specific time frame for each subject. Any changes in the study hour is sure to have a disastrous impact on my performance with the exam schedule fast approaching, she said.
“Examination fever coupled with erratic power supply makes me more tense, “ she expressed.
She then appealed to the concerned authority to step in and ensure that regular power supply is maintained.
Meanwhile, sources privy to the present situation informed the Imphal Free Press on Thursday evening that the power cut faced by the populace of the area is not from the sub-station but there was some technical issue to fix at Kharasom village. The team had arrived but due to rain it couldn’t be fixed on Thursday.
By Friday it would be fixed, sources added.
It may be mentioned that in some areas of Ukhrul district, rain accompanied with hail measuring around 1 and half inch were reported.
