Uttra Shanglen, Sana Konung on Friday condemned the alleged encroachment of Khurai Ahongpung which had been one of the sacred historical sites of the Meitei community, drawing immediate attention of the state authority.
A release by Uttra Shanglen, Sana Konung stated that the Khurai Ahongpung (Marjing), Wangkhei Soudong Pung (Wangburel), Tera Wangthonbi Pung (Koubru) and Kakwa Lamtai Pung (Tangjing) had been deeply associated with the history of the Meitei religion.
The state government had recognised the significance of the sites and declared the sites as Historical Monuments and Archaeological sites under Manipur Ancient and Historical Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains Act, 1976 sub section (3) of section 4, it added.
It condemned the alleged encroachment of the Khurai Ahongpung which is one of the sacred sites and appealed to the concerned to consider the sentiments of the Meitei communities and to work for conservation of the sacred historical site.
