Manipur Governor La Ganesan, Chief Minister N Biren Singh and his ministers have extended warm greetings to the people of the state on the auspicious occasion of Ema Emoinu Eratpa numit observed every year on the 12th day of Meitei lunar month Wakching.
Governor La Ganesan prayed for Emoinu Puja to bring peace and prosperity in the state.
“It is indeed, gratifying to note that people of Manipur, especially our Manipuri brethren observed Ima Emoinu puja (Goddess of Wealth to mark the return of the indigenous Meitet deity to the residence of her daughter-in-law Piyainu. However, Ema Emoinu puja or festival is celebrated at different places of the state with different flavours”, he added.
In his message, Biren said Emoinu Iratpa is celebrated with traditional gaiety and religious fervour, seasonal fruits, vegetables and fish are offered and lights are lit around the houses to evoke the blessings of Goddess Imoinu, believed to be the Goddess of Wealth and Prosperity.
“Fish, especially Sareng, being an important part of the offerings made to the Goddess, the state government has taken up initiatives to revive the production of Sareng and to increase the production of other fish species”, Biren added.
Education Minister Th Basanta Kumar said Emoinu Ahong Achaubi is a deity for good moral behaviour, besides wealth and prosperity and she resides near the fire hearth.
“Let Emoinu bless us with wellbeing and prosperity, having neither shortage nor excess, unaffected by troubles of life and long life”, he added.
Minister Awangbow Newmai also said that, let us all worship and pray to Emoinu to provide the state with peace and harmony to one and all in the state.
Minister Nemcha Kipgen in her message said may this auspicious ritualistic festival bring peace, happiness and prosperity for all the people of Manipur.
