The respective returning officers of both the 1-Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency and 2-Outer Manipur(ST) Parliamentary Constituency on Wednesday issued the Notice of Election for the upcoming 18th Lok Sabha 2024 for Manipur.
The Election Commission of India (ECI) had earlier announced that the last date of making nominations is March 27 while the scrutiny of nominations will be held on March 28.
ECI had mentioned that the last date for the withdrawal of candidatures will be March 30. It was also announced that the polls will be held in two phases i.e. Inner Manipur and parts of Outer Manipur on April 19 under the 1st Phase, while the rest of Outer Manipur on April 26 under the 2nd Phase.
The election is to be held of a member to the House of the People in the No. 1- Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency, as per notice issued by returning officer of 1-Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency Th Kirankumar.

It stated that the nomination papers may be delivered by a candidate or any of his proposers to the Returning Officer for No. 1-Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency or to Assistant Returning Officer Dr Md Imran Khan at the Office of the Returning Officer, No. 1-Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency at Lamphelpat, Imphal.
The nomination papers may be delivered between 11 am and 3 pm on any day (other than public holiday) not later than March 27, it added. The forms of nomination paper may be obtained at the place and time aforesaid, it mentioned.
It further said that nomination papers will be taken up for scrutiny at 11am on March 28 at the Office of the Returning Officer, No. 1-Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency at Lamphelpat, Imphal.
It further stated that notice of withdrawal of candidature may be delivered either by a candidate or by any of his proposers or by his election agent who has been authorised in writing by the candidate to deliver it to either of the officers specifie above at his office before 3 pm on March 30.
In the event of the election being contested, the poll will be taken between the hours of 7 am to 4 pm on April 19, it added.
However, no nomination was filed on Wednesday. Meanwhile, poll preparedness has started in full swing at the District Election Office, Imphal West with various district committees actively engaging in poll-related activities.
The notice issued by returning officer 2-Outer Manipur (ST) Parliamentary Constituency A Subhash Singh stated that nomination papers may be delivered by a candidate or any of his proposers to the Returning Officer/Deputy Commissioner, Thoubal in the office of Deputy Commissioner, Thoubal.

The nomination paper may also be issued to assistant returning officer/Additional Deputy Commissioner, Ukhrul Kajaigai Gangmel at the office of the Additional Deputy Commissioner, Ukhrul, DC Office, Mini Secretariat Complex, Ukhrul, it mentioned.
The same may be issued to assistant returning officer/additional deputy commissioner, Senapati Nimmi Azing Wungshi Khamrang at the office of the Additional Deputy Commissioner, Senapati, DC office, Mini Secretariat Complex, Senapati, it stated.
Nomination papers may be issued to assistant returning officer/additional deputy commissioner, Kangpokpi N Shokhongam Baite at the office of the Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kangpokpi, DC Office, Mini Secretariat Complex, Kangpokpi, it mentioned.
For Tamenglong, they may be issued to assistant returning officer/additional deputy commissioner Tamenglong Chunglenmang Kipgen at the office of the Additional Deputy Commissioner, Tamenglong, DC Office, Mini Secretariat Complex, Tamenglong, it stated.
It further mentioned that the nomination papers for Churachandpur district may be issued to assistant returning officer/ additional deputy commissioner, Churachandpur Saurabh Yadav at the office of the Additional Deputy Commissioner, Churachandpur, DC Office, Mini Secretariat Complex.
The nomination papers are to be issued between 11 am and 3 pm on any day (other than public holiday) not later than March 27, it added.
The forms of nomination paper may be obtained at the place and time aforesaid, it stated, adding that nomination papers will be taken up for scrutiny at the office of the Returning Officer/ Deputy Commissioner, Thoubal on March 28 at 11 am.

Notice of withdrawal of candidature may be delivered either by a candidate or by any of his/her proposers or by his/her election agent who has been authorised in writing by the candidate to deliver it to either of the officers specified above at their offices before 3 pm on March 30.
In the event of the election being contested, the poll will be taken on April 19 between the hours of 7am and 4 pm for the Assembly Segments of 33-Heirok, 34-Wangjing Tentha, 35-Khangabok, 36-Wabgai, 37-Kakching, 38-Hiyanglam, 39-Sugnoo, 41-Chandel (ST), 46-Saikul(ST), 50-Kangpokpi, 51-Saitu(ST), 57-Henglep(ST), 58- Churachandpur(ST), 59-Saikot(ST) and 60-Singhat(ST).
The poll will be taken on April 26 between 7 am. and 4 pm for the Assembly Segments of 40-Jiribam, 42-Tengnoupal (ST), 43-Phungyar (ST), 44-Ukhrul(ST), 45-Chingai(ST), 47- Karong(ST), 48-Mao(ST), 49-Tadubi (ST), 52-Tamei(ST), 53-Tamenglong (ST), 54-Nungba(ST), 55-Tipaimukh (ST) and 56-Thanlon (ST), it added.
