Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Thursday held a review meeting on the progress of Jiribam-Imphal railway line in the presence of Union MoS for Railways Darshana Jardosh and said that efforts are being made to expedite completion of the Jiribam-Imphal Railway line.
The Jiribam-Imphal railway line review meeting was attended by railways officials and state government officials.
"In presence of Hon’ble Union MoS for Railways, Smt @DarshanaJardosh Ji, held a meeting with railways officials and state government officials to review the progress of Jiribam-Imphal railway line," CM Biren tweeted on Thursday.
The chief minister said in another tweet that that despite the unfortunate landslide which happened near the railway project in Noney district and various other challenges, the entire team has been working relentlessly to expedite the completion of the Jiribam-Imphal railway line.
A massive landslide hit the work site of the Northern Frontier railway line near Tupul at Makhuam in Noney district on the night of June 29 and claimed the lives of more than 50 people, including railway workers, Army personnel and villagers.
Recently, Union Minister of State for External Affairs and Education RK Ranjan visited the railway work which falls under Kangpokpi district and announced that the government was targeting to make railways reach Imphal this year.
Ranjan was speaking to the media on the sidelines of an event held to celebrate the successful completion of excavation work of the safety tunnel of main tunnel-12. The parallel tunnels, one main and one safety, are located at Saheibung village in Kangpokpi district along the Jiribam-Imphal railway line.
