The All Manipur Candle Makers Association (AMCMA) is all set to start a drive against paraffin wax traders for artificial price hike amid the pandemic.
AMCMA secretary, K Ashinikanta stated in a press note that people are manufacturing candles to make a small income with self-employment. However, some of the paraffin wax traders are making artificial price hike on paraffin by taking advantage of the pandemic. The artificial price hike on paraffin wax has been giving a great impact on the people who are trying to get income with self-employment and local candle industries, it added.
A virtual meeting of AMCMA has resolved that an immediate drive will be started against those paraffin wax traders by taking assistance of the law.
It further appealed to the paraffin wax traders not to create artificial price hike as it will affect the local candle industry in the state. AMCMA also urged the state government to look into the matter in order to promote the small entrepreneurs of Manipur.
