Drive against single-use plastics in Moreh

The All Manipur Students Union (AMSU) Tengnoupal District Committee gave awareness to the shopkeeper and vegetable vendor about the impacts of using single-use plastic which has less than 100 microns.

All Manipur Students Union (AMSU) Tengnoupal District Committee on Monday conducted an awareness and mass drive against single-use plastics at the border town Moreh in Tengnoupal district.

Officials of the union gave awareness to shopkeepers and vegetable vendors about the impacts of using single-use plastics which has less than 100 microns. They also warned the shopkeepers to stop using and selling single-use plastics.

The drive is carried out in support of the government’s order to ban using single-use plastic items from July 1. The team visited the shops, hotels and street vendors and gave awareness to stop using and selling single-use plastic items as it causes harmful impacts to the environment and human lives.

After carrying out the drive in the town, finance secretary of the union, Th Suresh told the media team at its office that the drive against single-use plastic items will be carried out on regular intervals.

He appealed to all the shops, hotels and street vendors to stop using the same. If the volunteers of the union find any shops or vendors using or selling plastic items, they will be punished under law, he added.
