The Manipuri Students’ Federation (MSF) has appealed to the people of Manipur not to extend the Yaoshang celebration beyond five days taking into consideration the ongoing COHSEM exam and the upcoming BOSEM examination.

In a release, MSF urged the general public to focus on sports during the five-day Yaoshang Festival. Today’s youths have changed the way of celebrating the festival as substance abuse can be widely seen during the festival, the release added. 

It further said that the people should support the sports movement in the state to save the youths. As a powerhouse of sports, it is high time to take up steps to preserve the indigenous games of Manipur such as Ougri Hangen Chongba, Mukna, Sagol Kangjei, Yubi Lakpi, Kang and Thang Ta, it stated.

The federation also urged the people to cooperate in supporting the sports culture in the state to avoid any unwanted incidents happening in the state during the festival.
