Do not defame Manipur with unwanted issues: CM Biren

CM N Biren Singh expressed his happiness that Manipur has been able to host G20 events with the improvement in law-and-order situation

Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Saturday appealed to the people of the state not to create unwanted issues which can defame the state, while expressing his happiness that Manipur has been able to host G20 events with the improvement in law-and-order situation under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

He was speaking at the inaugural function of C20 India, 2023 Vashudhaiva Kutumbakam National Conference, organised by Chinmaya Mission at Sangai Hall, Hotel Imphal, North AOC, Imphal.

It is a pleasure to take part in this prestigious event of C20-India 2023 organised by the Chinmaya Mission, he expressed. India has been bestowed with the honour of guiding the world with the assumption of G20 Presidency and it is a proud moment for every citizen of India, he added. 

He said the Prime Minister has aptly chosen the theme for India’s Presidency as ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ or ‘One Earth, One Family, One Future’. The theme spotlights LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment) with its associated, environmentally sustainable and responsible choices, both at the level of individual lifestyles as well as national development, leading to globally transformative actions resulting in a cleaner, greener and bluer future, he said.

He also mentioned that India’s G20 Presidency also marks the beginning of Amritkaal and it will lead the country towards a futuristic, prosperous, inclusive and developed society, distinguished by a human-centric approach at its core.

Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam is a universal maxim and its purpose is not an imposition but the evolution of human consciousness that will lead to the protection of the world through friendship and cooperation, he added.

He said the conference will go a long way in spreading the invaluable message of universal brotherhood and voicing the concerns of the world population through the civil society Organisations (CSOs) to the world leaders in G20.

He further appealed to the general public to extend a hearty welcome to the Femina Miss India contestants who are on their visit to the State for the Grand Finale event to be held in the State. He further appealed to the public not to do anything which will create a bad image or impression of the state to the visiting contestants.

Rural Development Minister Y Khemchand Singh who attended as president of the function said that due to improvement in law-and-order situation under the leadership of N Biren Singh, Manipur is able to host the Grand Finale of Femina Miss India. There are possibilities of boosting the state’s economy if the tourism sector is developed, he added.

He also expressed gratitude to the Chinmaya Mission and C20 team for organising the conference in the state.

Resident spiritual mentor at Chinmaya Mission Chennai Swami Mitrananda; chairman, Loktak Development Authority M Asnikumar Singh; secretary Chinmaya Mission Trust Manipur Lt Gen (Retd) L Nishikanta Singh; vice chancellors of Universities, professors of various educational institutes, retired and serving army officers also attended the conference among others.

After the inaugural session, a technical session on various topics including Dharma, Education, Ecology, Geopolitics and Defence was also conducted.
