District legal-level debate competition held in Senapati

A district legal-level debate competition on the topic ‘Access to Justice System and Legal Aid is the Source of Legal Empowerment’ was held on Saturday at the conference Hall of Lungnila Elizabeth School of Social Work, (LESSW), Senapati district.

The event was organised by Manipur State Legal Services Authority in collaboration with Department of Justice, Ministry of Law and Justice, Government of India, District Legal Services Authority, Senapati and Lungnila Elizabeth School of Social Work, (LESSW).

Students from different colleges of the district participated in the competition and the jury members of the competition were chairman of District Legal Services Authority, Senapati, Samom Bijen; president of Senapati District Bar Association, SP Thomas; and secretary of District Legal Services Authority, Senapati, Ashem Tarunakumari Devi.

In the debate competition, Grace Leishiyui Kapai and Tajinpou William Pamei of Don Bosco College, Maram secured first and second positions respectively, while B Rakoveine of Mt. Zion College, Karong and K Pungringa Ngiimei of Don Bosco College, Maram shared the third position.

The event was also attended by the managing director of Lungnila Elizabeth School of Social Work, (LESSW), faculty members and students of different colleges in Senapati district.
