The much-awaited dialysis unit in Tamenglong district hospital at Duigailong village started functioning on Tuesday. The dream of many came true when a 49-year-old male patient successfully underwent hemodialysis in the district hospital, hospital sources said.
Although the dialysis unit in the district hospital is yet to be formally inaugurated, the patient suffering from acute chronic kidney disease needed to undergo hemodialysis on emergency, chief medical officer Tamenglong Dr G Majachunglu told the media.
Tamenglong district hospital Duigailong has six dialysis machines. The first one was provided by the district administration Tamenglong. Two machines were donated by Bharat Electronic Limited, while three dialysis machines were provided by the state government.
