It clarified that a joint verification was conducted on August 21, 2022 along with the locals, and HT line electric poles were there along the canal inspection path which hindered the de-vegetation along the canal.

It has been apprised to MSPDCL and the DC for shifting and re-alignment of poles, the department said.

Moreover, due to the continuous release of irrigation water along the canals, namely, Moirang Low Level Canal, Imphal Main Canal, Imphal Low Level Canal since August 4, 2022 till date to meet the demand of the farmers, simultaneous cleaning/de-vegetation could not be carried out. Cleaning/de-vegetation is done very frequently during the year, it stated.

Further, it clarified that rectification and restoration works are also in progress except due to the cropping season. The work will be resumed in full swing once harvesting is done, the department said.
