Manipur BJP president A Sharda Devi said the demand for removal of Assam Rifles by the state BJP was made after monitoring the present scenario, while the opposing demand from other MLAs for retaining Assam Rifles is against the party decision.

Speaking to mediapersons at the party office at Nityaipat Chuthek, Sharda Devi said the demand by some MLAs (including BJP's) not to remove AR is their individual choice.

Concerning the present turmoil, Sharda further claimed that the people of present Manipur are receiving the fruit that was sown by the then Congress government.

The present Modi-led government, including BJP MPs from Manipur, have been taking up various initiatives to solve the present turmoil in Manipur, she added.

She further appealed to the people to cooperate with the government as the government will do its level best to punish any culprit who are trying to disintegrate Manipur.

Responding to a query on what steps are taken against those BJP MLAs demanding a separate administration inside Manipur, Sharda said that the process has been started.

State BJP president A Sharda Devi on Saturday stated that the people of Manipur are suffering now due to the hidden agenda of the Indian National Congress (INC) which began since the period of Jawaharlal Nehru.

The prime minister, the Union home minister, along with Chief Minister N Biren Singh, have been putting various efforts to solve the present turmoil in Manipur, she said. To monitor the issue in the state, Union Home Minister Amit Shah stayed in Manipur for three consecutive days, she added.

On the contrary, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi claimed that ‘Bharat Mata’ has been murdered in Manipur. State BJP strongly condemn Rahul Gandhi’s statement for misleading the country against the Modi-led government, she added.

Sharda said that the Indian National Congress should not run away for fear of history which holds record of how INC has been trying to disintegrate Manipur since the period of Jawaharlal Nehru. Dzuko valley and Kabow valley were given away under some hidden agenda for their own benefit during the period of Jawaharlal Nehru as Prime Minister, she said.

During the previous ethnic clashes which occurred in Manipur between various communities, no Congress Prime Minister gave a comment to console the people of Manipur, she said. Even the Meitei-Pangal clash which occurred in Manipur during 1992-1993 was highlighted on the floor of Parliament after a committee of 7 members from BJP presented a report on the floor, she continued.
