Women of Thangmeiband Ward No 3 and Ward No 5 staged a sit-in protest at Lamphel Sanakeithel on Monday, demanding the removal of illegal Chin-Kuki immigrants and Assam Rifles from Manipur.

During the sit-in, protestors raised various slogans denouncing the demand for separate administration, revoking SoO with Kuki militant groups and demanding the implementation of NRC in Manipur.

Speaking to mediapersons, a protestor expressed disappointment over the central government’s prolonged inaction and urged authorities concerned to resolve the issue swiftly as people of the state have suffered long enough.

“Manipuris in every corner of the country are suffering because of the crisis; we want to live peacefully now and hence, the authorities should act instead of table talking the issue,” she said.

She further questioned if the Union home minister’s visit to Manipur was to fulfil vested political interest instead of resolving the crisis.

"We don't know what the central government is planning, whatever the case, we will not allow division of Manipur’s territorial integrity," she added.

She further urged authorities to conduct an investigation and ascertain the involvement of narco-terrorists in the whole debacle.
