Demand for rehabilitation, resettlement of displaced homesteads

The demand for immediate rehabilitation and resettlement for the displaced homesteads of landowners affected by the construction of NH- 137 Tamenglong-Mahur road was raised during the Hill Leaders day cum Meeyamgi Numit.

Landowners reportedly affected by the construction of NH- 137 Tamenglong-Mahur road on Friday appealed to Tamenglong deputy commissioner for immediate rehabilitation and resettlement for the “displaced homesteads.”  

The demand was raised during the Hill Leaders day cum Meeyamgi Numit at Namtiram village in Tousem subdivision in Tamenglong district. 

District administration Tamenglong on Friday organised the event in the remote Tousem subdivision at Namtiram village Part II. 

Speaking on the occasion, deputy commissioner Tamenglong Pawan Yadav urged the public to apply for any schemes. The district level officers are here to address their grievances, he said and mentioned that a site for receiving public grievances and providing redressals has been selected outside the district headquarters. 

The villagers as well as district level officers are more eager to learn how to respond to emergency situations like earthquakes, he said.  

He further said that the district level officers are there to hand out various schemes meant for the public.

Personnel of 12 National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) attending the event gave demonstrations and mock exercises on earthquake response. 

District administration Tamenglong led by the deputy commissioner, ADM Thangboi Gangte, SDO Tousem Paul Nangsha, SDO Tamenglong Imosana Meitei, additional superintendent of police Tamenglong Paukhanmung Gwite and district level officers of Tamenglong attended the programme. 

Tamenglong district social welfare officer AS Robinson distributed CMST cards for disabled persons during Meeyamgi Numit. 

As many as 24 departments opened their stalls to address the public grievances. 

The zonal education officer Tamenglong N Abonpou Christopher through deputy commissioner Tamenglong Pawan Yadav also distributed school uniforms and text books for students of Namtiram village. 

As many as 10 applications were received from the public for redressal.

In Noney, the district administration also organised a Hill leaders day cum Meeyamgi Numit at Multipurpose Hall Longmai-3.

Noney deputy commissioner Joseph Pauline Kamsuan, superintendent of police Nimai Ningthouja, Villages Council Longmai Area chairman Adai Dangmei were among the guests who attended the program as presidium members.

As many as 25 stalls of various government departments under Noney district were opened during the event.
