The Manipur Communist Party of India - Khurai Local Council, along with the masses of the Khurai area, took out a protest rally, demanding Prime Minister Narendra Modi's resignation from his post for failing to address and solve the ongoing crisis in Manipur.
The rally took off after a public meeting at Khurai Thongam Leikai and continued till Khurai Lamlong Bazar. The protestors raised various slogans demanding the central government to restore peace and protect the territorial integrity of Manipur.
Speaking to the media on the sidelines of the rally, executive member State CPI council RK Amusana expressed disappointment over PM Modi’s failure to protect the nation and asserted that Modi should step down on moral grounds for his failure to address the crisis and inability to restore normalcy in Manipur.

“The Prime Minister has not said a single word about the situation in Manipur; he should be striving to solve the issue swiftly but his inaction shows his disregard for the people of Manipur,” he said.
He also questioned whether Manipur was not part of the Indian Union and condemned the prime minister’s prejudiced treatment of the crisis in the state.
He highlighted that the rally had been organised to draw the attention of central authorities to the issue which has been ravaging the state for more than 40 days.
“An internal crisis of this magnitude has never occurred in the history of the state; numerous houses have been burnt and lives have been lost and hence, the rally epitomises the people’s call for peace in Manipur,” he said.
