The day curfew relaxation in Imphal East and Imphal West from 5 am to 6 pm has been extended for Tuesday (August 22), stating "considerable improvement" in the law-and-order situation in the two districts.
As per orders issued by the respective district magistrates on Monday, day curfew would remain relaxed for both districts in order to facilitate the general public to purchase essential items, including medicines and food.
However, movement of persons belonging to essential services such as health, electricity, PHED, petrol pumps, schools/colleges, municipality, power (MSPDCL/MSPCL), press and electronic media, functioning of courts and to and fro movement of flight passengers to the airport will be exempted from the imposition of curfew after the expiry of the said period of relaxation, the order stated.
