Cycle rally marks World Menstrual Hygiene Day 2022 in Thoubal

Traditional misconceptions in regard to women’s monthly menstrual cycle, lead to many girls being hesitant to seek the necessary attention whenever they get their monthly cycle, which can further lead to multiple health complications, Ningol Club president Khundongbam Sophiya said.

Ningol Club Heirok on Saturday organised the ‘World Menstrual Day’ at Heirok part II, Litan, Thoubal.

Speaking on the occasion, Ningol Club president Khundongbam Sophiya said that the traditional misconceptions in regard to women’s monthly menstrual cycle, lead to many girls being hesitant to seek the necessary attention whenever they get their monthly cycle, which can further lead to multiple health complications.

As part of the occasion, a cycle rally on ‘Menstrual Hygiene awareness’ was organised, and sanitary pads were distributed to the girls who participated in the programme.

The event was attended by department of Health Services, Manipur additional director Sasheekumar Mangang as the chief guest, Ningol Club Heirok president Khundongbam Sophiya as the president, along with CMO Thoubal Y Nokul, CADA president Hijam Priyokumar and IRDSO Wangjing secretary Nonibala Narengbam as the guests of honour.

Along with senior journalists Sonia Sorensangbam, Haripriya Tongbram and Langthabal Kunja Junior High School head mistress Ksh Babylee Nujaleima who attended the event as the special invitees, actress Bala Hijam also attended the event as the special guest.
