Curfew has been further relaxed in several violence-hit districts of Manipur, including, Imphal West, Imphal East, , Thoubal and Jiribam on Saturday (May 13), according to official sources.
Respective district administrations issued orders announcing the relaxation in the curfew timings, citing improved law and order situation and to facilitate the general public to purchase essential items, including medicines and food supplies.
Curfew in Imphal West, Imphal East and Thoubal has been relaxed for seven hours from 5 am to 12 noon on Saturday, while in Jiribam, curfew relaxation has been extended for longer hours on Saturday from 5 am to 3 pm.

The government clamped curfew in several violence-hit districts of the state since May 3 in order to bring the law and order situation under control. The districts under indefinite curfew include Imphal West, Imphal East, Thoubal, Bishnupur, Chandel, Pherzawl, Churachandpur, Jiribam and Kangpokpi.
The ethnic violence that erupted in several parts of the 11 districts since May 3 has claimed over 60 lives and hundreds others injured so far. Residential houses, several places of worship and other structures were burned in the violence and rendered thousands homeless and displaced. The number of arson cases is 1,794, while the death toll is 68 and injured is 236 as of 6 pm, May 11, according to official sources.
