Communist Party of India on Tuesday organised Manipur Solidarity Day across the nation, demanding solutions to resolve the ongoing conflict in the state without further delay.
The day was observed at Delhi, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Patna, Kolkata, Jaipur, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chennai, Thiruvananthapuram, Bengaluru etc, stated a release. According to information received from CPI Assam State Council State Secretary Kanak Gogoi, sit-ins and public meetings were also held at Guwahati Rajgarh Road, Sibsagar and Silchar, it mentioned.
Protestors appealed to resolve the ongoing violence in Manipur and also demanded to table the issue in the ongoing parliament session, it stated. CPI General Secretary D Raja, Prabal Sengupta, CPI Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha MPs took part in the protest held at Delhi Indrajit Gupta Marg, it mentioned.
The protest was also attended by NFIW fact-finding team members Annie Raja and Nisha Siddhu and Deeksha Dwivedi, it added. Protestors also demanded immediate withdrawal of the case registered against the three members of the fact-finding team, it stated.
