During the first wave of COVID-19, the Manipur government took several initiatives by forming a committee headed by respective MLAs but fewer initiatives from the state government are seen in the second wave in regards to monitoring and contact tracing, Thangmeiband assembly constituency MLA Kh Joykisan said.
Joykisan was speaking in a press conference held at his residence at Thangmeiband, Imphal West on Sunday.
Joykisan said some of the states have already announced partial lockdown due to the increasing rate of COVID-19 infection in the country. The government has been taking initiatives to control the pandemic with vaccination programmes, he said. But it needs to strengthen the committee headed by respective MLAs and authorities concerned must provide appropriate details of the infected persons so that contact tracing could be done easily, said Joykisan.
The MLA also has urged the people of Thangmeiband assembly constituency to get vaccinated and contact the members of Thangmeiband Kendra Development Organisation (TAKDO) if they face inconveniences in vaccination.

Joykisan, who is also a patron member of TAKDO, further said for the second wave of COVID-19, the government is going to distribute free rations and appealed to the people of the people of assembly constituency to submit their Aadhaar cards to members of Thangmeiband Kendra Development Organisation (TAKDO)or him to avail the opportunity.
To prevent from COVID-19 infection, cleanliness and maintaining proper hygiene is necessary, he said. He urged chief minister N Biren to instruct the Works minister to deliver the pending funds of the Public Works department for year 2020-21. If the government is not going to deliver funds to the contractors for developmental works, then it should be excluded from the work programme of the government, said Joykisan.
People should not get involved in politics during the fight against COVID-19, he added.
