The District Judge, Imphal West on Thursday issued a restraining order against the organising of ‘Yaipha Thouni Thouram’ (a ceremony to seek blessings) of Manipuri film Thabaton 4 and Thabaton 5 till April 8.
Producer Surjitkanta Ningthoukhongjam filed an application under order 39 Rule 1, 2 and 3 of CPC, 1908 read with section 60 of Copy Rights Act, 1957 to issue the restraining order against organising of the Yaipha Thouni Thouram of the film.
In the application, the producer stated that Manipuri film Thabaton, Thabaton 2, and Thabaton 3 were produced under him and also mentioned that Bijgupta Laishram of Sagolband Tera Sadokpam Leikai is the director, story writer and screenplay writer of the film.
It stated that he produced the film under the banner of BB Films Production. The Government of India, Central Board of Film Certificate had issued certificates, certifying Surjitkumar as the producer of the film ‘Thabaton’ and thus being a producer, he is the copyright owner of the film, it mentioned.
It further stated that he found an invitation card for organising the ‘Yaipha Thouni Thouram’ of Thabaton 4 and Thabaton 5 to be held on March 26 by other people under Mapari Arts Production, Khuman Pokpa without his knowledge or consent, thereby violating the provisions of Copy Right Act, 1957.
The court after hearing the submission, restrained the ‘Yaipha Thouni Thouram’ which is to be held on Friday and further restrained from organising any events till April 8.
