The Committee on Tribal Unity (CoTU) has vehemently opposed the decision of CM Biren’s unified command to destroy bunkers in the Hill areas.

CoTU said it will not allow the destruction of bunkers which are meant for defending and protecting Kuki-Zo tribal villages from raids.

CoTU General Secretary Lamminlun Singsit said that CM Biren has gone senile and that, instead of bringing peace in the state, he has gone overboard by taking to his fancy hats which is unbecoming of a CM.

"The fact that this lame duck CM is trying to go overboard by destroying protective bunkers meant for protection of our villages from his militias will be faced with utmost resistance because the writ of Meetei does not run in the hills", he asserted.

COTU also advised CM Biren not to interfere beyond his territory but to implement his decision to destroy bunkers in the valley.
