The Congress party on Tuesday demanded the immediate removal of unauthorized posters of the Prime Minister, the Union Home Minister and the BJP national chief on public properties.

In a letter to the East Khasi Hills district Election Officer, Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) general secretary Sanjay Das said posters of the Prime Minister, the Union Home Minister and the BJP president are being pasted on public properties like electric poles, traffic islands in various parts of the city and "defacing the city of Shillong with such unauthorised posters".

He said this is a gross violation of the Model Code of Conduct. "This excludes the ones which have permissions but on the ones which don't have any approvals," he added.

“We thereby request you to arrange to remove all these posters from government properties at the earliest,” Das said in the letter.
