Condolences on demise of Guru Haobijam Amutombi

Haobijam Amutombi Singh, who was also one of the founder member of AMWLARC breathed his last at the age of 92 at his residence in Sunusiphai Makha Leikai on Wednesday, stated a release.

The All Manipur Waree Leeba Association and Research Centre (AMWLARC) on Friday condoled the untimely demise of renowned Wari Leeba artist, Guru Haobijam Amutombi Singh.

Haobijam Amutombi Singh, who was also one of the founder member of AMWLARC breathed his last at the age of 92 at his residence in Sunusiphai Makha Leikai on Wednesday, stated a release.

AMWLARC eulogised Amutombi for his pivotal roles in uplifting and promoting Wari Leeba, the traditional narrative art form of the state, it stated. Members of the centre also observed 2 minute silence as mark of respect to the departed soul and also shared grief of the bereaved family members, it mentioned.

Amutombi has won many accolades during his lifetime including the ‘Manipur State Kala Akademi Award’ and ‘Kala Bhushan’ among others, it added.
