A ‘War on BJP Non-Violence Campaign Committee Manipur’ on Sunday resolved to tender massive resignation from the primary membership of the party. The state BJP lodged an FIR against the committee for “misleading the public and trying to defame the party.”

Committee convenor Chingangbam Nandalala Angomcha who claimed to be a member of BJP told the media at Manipur Press Club, Majorkhul, Imphal that thousands of people have been stranded and are taking shelter in Myanmar, Mizoram and other states of the country as a fallout of the present crisis.

Meanwhile, MLAs, ministers and the chief minister are taking necessary steps to protect themselves, he alleged. As per BJP’s motto which is ‘nation first, party second and self last’, each member of the party should prioritise on saving nation first, he said.

The MLAs and ministers were camping in New Delhi seeking an appointment with the prime minister, but he went for a foreign visit by ignoring the Manipur crisis, he added.

The Union home minister also visited Manipur earlier and during his visit, he met various CSO leaders in Kangpokpi, Churachandpur, Kangpokpi and Moreh, but there is a hidden agenda behind his visit to meet the various stakeholders at separate places of the state, he added.

The committee has resolved to extend mass resignation from BJP party, and decided to raise demands of opening relief camp at the residences of MLAs, ministers including CM, construction of houses for stranded people at the MLAs and ministers’ lands “which were bought by misusing developmental funds of public,” he said.

The committee further demanded to withdraw the SoO agreement with Kuki militants, implementation of NRC and inclusion of Meitei/Meeitei in ST list.

He said the committee took the decision without the influence of any political party or any individual or groups.

Meanwhile, state BJP spokesperson Elangbam Johnson told the media at the state party office on Sunday evening that various organisations and individuals and groups are trying to mislead the public in order to defame the party.

He said Chief Minister N Biren Singh called on Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday. During the meeting, the Union home minister has given his assurance that no President Rule will be imposed in Manipur, he added.

He said that one Nandalala who claimed to be a member of the BJP informed the media that there will be mass resignation of BJP members.

“Nandalala is not related to the BJP and for trying to mislead and defame the party, a complaint has been registered at Imphal Police Station against their so-called ‘War on BJP Non-Violence Campaign Committee Manipur,’” he added.

He appealed to the people not to get misled by such unfounded allegations or claims. State BJP further appealed to the respective mandal of the party not to take any step without the consent of the state BJP head office.
