As cold wave hit Manipur, Senapati district on Wednesday reported the lowest minimum temperature at 2.23 degree Celsius, while the state’s maximum temperature was recorded at Noney at 11.73 degree Celsius.
According to the daily weather report of the state Directorate of Environment and Climate Change, Manipur has been gripped by the cold wave since the past four days, with minimum temperature hovering around 5 to 7 degrees Celsius.
The temperature is likely to dip further in the next 48 hours, according to the Regional Met Centre (RMC), Guwahati report updated with the ICAR, Imphal on Tuesday.
According to the RMC, in Senapati district, the mercury may dip to 2 degree Celsius on January 20 and 21, followed by 3 degree Celsius in Tamenglong, Tengnoupal, Kamjong, Ukhrul, and 4 degree Celsius in Noney, Kangpokpi, Chandel; 5 degree Celsius in Imphal East, Imphal West, Churachandpur; 6 degree Celsius in Thoubal, Bishnupur, Kakching and 7 degree Celsius at Pherzawl and Jiribam.
The Met Office also said that shallow to moderate fog is likely in isolated pockets during the early morning hours over Manipur during the next two days.
