The Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) will be organising the ‘365 days of Chin Kuki Narco Terrorist Aggression in Manipur’ on May 3 at Iboyaima Shumang Leela Shanglen, Palace Compound, Imphal to discuss the crisis which has remained unresolved in an entire year of the conflict.

Coordinating body, coordinator Somorendro Thokchom on Saturday told the media at its office located at Lamphel, Imphal West that in the coming May 3, scholars, intellectuals and others will discuss why the crisis could not be brought to an end and what are the reasons behind.

He said the politicians and CSO leaders should stop using the present crisis as a tool for playing politics and should stop acting like a patriot. Instead, they should work with cooperation by sidelining the concept of ‘crab theory’, he added.

Somorendro said AFSPA and SoO were implemented and signed during the tenure of the then Congress government and the people are getting its impact now, while the present government is also not taking necessary steps to bring peace.

He said that the outlook given towards the Northeastern state including Manipur by the mainland Indians are all the same. The legislators should stop playing the blame game with one another, he added.

“The war is not between the Meitei and Kuki communities but rather against Chin-Kuki Narco terrorists as declared earlier; then why are various communities with different dialects under the Chin-Kuki getting involved in the present crisis?” he questioned.

A concerted effort is needed from all sections of the communities in order to bring back peace instead of blaming one another, he added.
