The Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) on Thursday appreciated the womenfolk and meira paibis who came out and staged sit-in protests at different markets of Manipur at 11 am and torch rallies at various locations in the valley areas at 7 pm on Wednesday.
A release said that the womenfolk of the state demanded that the ongoing state Assembly session should urge the centre to abrogate SoO from the Kuki militants and to implement NRC in the state. They also condemned the killing of a student, physical assault on journalists, destroying of CSO offices and setting ablaze of UCM office, it said.
COCOMI on behalf of the people of Manipur appreciated the people, clubs, organisations, Meira paibis, CSO leaders appreciated for carrying out protests which also chanted various slogans.
It also warned the central and state government of intense agitations by the people of the state and COCOMI if they failed to meet the demands made by the people.
