The Coordinating Committee of Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) has expressed profound appreciation for the impactful declarations made during the recent Thadou Convention held in Guwahati on November 2, which has decided to support implementation of NRC in Manipur.
COCOMI coordinator Th Somorendro, while speaking to the media during a press conference held at its office in Imphal on Tuesday, said that the ongoing conflict has reached 18 months but the situation of the region is not improving. At such a juncture, the Thadou convention’s decision was really a good decision and it might regain unity of all indigenous communities, he stated.
He also highlighted that such a decision shows a face to the foreign forces that are trying to destroy the state. COCOMI will always support any indigenous community’s steps to save Manipur integrity, he added.
“Let’s live together without destroying the idea of Manipur”, Somorendro said.
He also put up another decision of supporting war on drugs by the Thadou Convention with an appreciation, stating that 30 to 40 percent of the youths of the state are addicted to drugs and hence, the convention’s decision should be supported by everyone.
Somorendro also expressed caution over Mizoram CM’s statement of taking land from northeast states including Manipur for Kuki-zo state.
