CME on hair transplant held at Shija

A one-day CME on hair transplantation was held at Shija Hospitals & Research Institute Private Limited (SHRI), Langol on Monday.

The CME was organisedd in celebration of the completion of 200 hair transplants at Shija Hospitals, stated a release.

During the event, Dr NB Resident (Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery), Dr Utkarsh Srivastava, stressed on the topic ‘Hair Restoration’, wherein he spoke on the history of hair transplant, anatomy, hair growth cycle, hair disorders, classification of disorders, assessment, medical and surgical management and recent advances, it stated.

Consultant Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeon, Dr Nabakishor Haobijam, while giving insights on ‘Shija Hair Transplant Client, Market and Prospects’, said male clearly outnumbers female in the gender distribution of transplant with 177 per cent followed by female with 21.10 per cent and few transgenders contributing to 2.1 per cent, it mentioned.

Out of the total 200 hair transplants, 87 were from Imphal West, 56 from Imphal East, 28 from Thoubal, 12 from Bishnupur and 9 from Kakching with 2 each from Churachandpur and Kangpokpi and one each from Noney, Senapati, Agartala and Kolkata, it added.

It is also estimated that nearly 2 lakh males and 90,000 females may require hair restoration in the state, the release said, adding that the best solution for baldness is hair transplantation. A 10-membered team of trained hair transplant nurses were also felicitated on the occasion, it mentioned.
