Manipur Chief Minister N Biren on Friday extended greetings for a peaceful and holy month of Ramadan to the Muslim community and the people of Manipur.
In his message, N Biren stated that Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar and is one of the most important observances for the Muslim community. During the holy month, Muslims purify their minds, bodies, hearts and souls by fasting and praying to their deity Allah, he stated.
He further stated that the act of fasting during this month is considered as one of the five pillars of Islam. It is a practice of perseverance and self-restraint which gives strength to both body and mind, he added.
