Fiction and Poetry Club, Manipur, on Friday informed that the club will organise the Manipuri Poetry Day at the DIPR auditorium in Keishampat on October 17.
The club, in a release, said that the event will be observed in commemoration of the great poets of Manipuri language who strived to uplift and promote Manipuri poetry.
It is held annually on Mera Thanin (Purnima) in the Meitei Lunar Calendar, it stated.
It mentioned that a wide range of activities including paying tributes to eminent poets, poetry competitions, etc. will be held during the programme.
It further urged the literary associations, schools, colleges, universities, civil society organisations and Manipuri diasporas outside the state and abroad to observe the day, and contribute their efforts to promoting and uplifting Manipuri language and poetry.
