Joint tribe councils (JTC) women’s wing Tamenglong zone on Friday organised a one-day cleanliness drive at district headquarter as part of ‘Swachhta Abhiyan’ in collaboration with district administration Tamenglong.
Speaking to the media, JTC women’s wing Tamenglong zone convener Hannah Dichongta said that the cleanliness drive was organised to create a sense of responsibility among the people.
If rain comes, single-use plastic bottles and other home wastes will overflow the drain, she said. Moreover, the drives were initiated by keeping in mind the requirement for health and hygiene in the state, she added.
She appealed to the citizens of Tamenglong district to use the dustbins and maintain them properly till waste collection vehicles come to their respective homes and junctions.
She also fervently appealed to join hands in the future with JCT women wing Tamenglong zone to keep the town neat and clean.
She also thanked Tamenglong police for prompt action in joining hands in the cleanliness drives.
