A cleanliness drive was carried out at several places across Tamenglong district as a part of the observation of Gandhi Jayanti which falls on Sunday.
The district administration led the cleanliness drive, starting from Haipou Jadonang park towards the main bazaar and Rani Gaidinliu Women Market areas early Saturday.
Speaking on the sidelines of the cleanliness drive, SDO Tousem Paul Nangsha said that the cleanliness drive will continue, and it should be carried out on a daily basis.
He urged all citizens of Tamenglong to take part in keeping the surrounding areas clean and free from single-use plastic items.
SDO Tamenglong Imosana Singh, additional superintendent of Police Paukhanmang Guite, SDO Tousem Paul Nangsha led the cleanliness drive. All shops were closed in cooperation towards the cleanliness drive.
Joining the cleanliness drive, schools and institutions in Tamenglong, individuals, and government departments carried out cleanliness activities in their surrounding areas.
