MAHUD Minister Yumnam Khemchand along with state BJP president and MLAs on Thursday conducted a cleanliness drive in and around Khwairamband Market including Paona Bazaar stretch ahead of the G20 events scheduled to be held in Imphal on Friday and Saturday.
At the event held at Khwairamband Ima Market, MAHUD minister said Manipur is known as ‘Switzerland of India’. The people should dispose of the solid wastes properly instead of dumping them on roadsides, he said. Manipur is a small state and the natural beauty of the state can be enhanced by disposing the waste materials at appropriate places, he said.
The people should try to show the natural beauty of the state so that the foreign delegates could carry a message regarding the scenic beauty of the state all over the world. By maintaining cleanliness, the tourism sector of the state can be developed, he asserted.
Khemchand said that Gutkha cover is one of the wastes polluting the city area.
