Churachandpur womenfolk stage protest, demand separate administration

The womenfolk of Churachandpur gathered at various places, holding placards and banners, voicing their concerns over the violence in Manipur.

Accusing the Manipur government of sponsoring ethnic cleansing programmes against the Kukis, womenfolk of Churachandpur on Tuesday staged a protest, demanding a separate administration

The womenfolk gathered at various places, holding placards and banners, voising their concerns over the violence in Manipur. They gathered in front of the mini-secretariat, Tuibong, Churachandpur Police Station, Dorcas Hall, New Lamka and D Phailien Bazar.

The protest was organised by the Indigenous Tribal Leader’s Forum, women’s wing.

They held a banner which reads: ‘Separate administration inevitable under total separation’. They also held placards that read stating ‘You have swept us out of Manipur. Do not cry for us. Bye’; ‘No separate administration, no rest, no love between us, be happy as good neighbour’; ‘defacto separation requires dejure recognition’; ‘Thank you Biren, you completed the process of total separation’; ‘Dear Meitei, we are separated already, stop interfering in our affairs’; ‘separate administration precedes peace and communal harmony’.

It may be mentioned that 10 MLAs of Kuki community, including two ministers, had demanded a separate administration, stating that Manipur miserably failed to protect their people.
