Churachandpur police continue efforts to contain liquor menace

Churachandpur police, led by SP Shaik Mohammad Zaib Zakir, on Tuesday raided the affluent and infamous store called Victoria Mart, located at Hmar Veng, where they seized Indian Made Foreign Liquor, including 20 bottles of high-end liquor and 54 cans of beer.

In their continuous endeavour to clean Churachandpur district of illicit liquor menace the Churachandpur police, led by SP Shaik Mohammad Zaib Zakir, on Tuesday raided the affluent and infamous store called Victoria Mart, located at Hmar Veng, where they seized Indian Made Foreign Liquor, including 20 bottles of high-end liquor and 54 cans of beer.

The seized items are displayed at the official chamber of the SP at Mini Secretariat, Tuibong, in the presence of media and top police officials. Of the seized items, 17 bottles of wine were reportedly imported from some western countries which had high value with the market rate being estimated till this report was filed.

On being asked, the SP of Churachandpur said that besides other illicit substances, their priority to rid illicit liquor will continue in the district. The SP also called on all those involved not to continue their trade of selling IMFL or manufacturer DIC.

Until recently, the Victoria Mart, a department store, was said to be the hub for IMFL which was frequented by the who’s who of the district.
