Churachandpur: Meritorious students felicitated

The inauguration of Class XI students of Arts and Science cum joint felicitation programme of Kangvai Higher Secondary (KHSS), and Zillai (Vaiphei Student Organisation), Kangvai block was attended by Education Minister Thounaojam Basanta Singh as the chief guest.

Inauguration of class XI students cum joint felicitation programme for successful students of Kangvai Higher Secondary (KHSS), and Zillai, Kangvai block was held at Kangvai Higher Secondary School, Kangvai, Churachandpur in the presence of Education Minister Thounaojam Basanta Singh on Tuesday.

The inauguration of Class XI students of Arts and Science cum joint felicitation programme of Kangvai Higher Secondary (KHSS), and Zillai (Vaiphei Student Organisation), Kangvai block was attended by Education Minister Thounaojam Basanta Singh as the chief guest, Henglep assembly constituency MLA Letzamang Haokip president, deputy director of education (school) hills Alfred Jamlullan Khaute and ZEO of Churachandpur N Chingkhei Singh as the special guest.

The programme commenced with welcome address by the in-charge principal S Ngulzaching Ngaihte who recalled that the school was established in 1964 and was recently upgraded on June 13, 2022 to a higher secondary school. During the programme, Minister Thounaojam Basanta Singh inaugurated the class XI of KHSS.

Felicitating the three toppers of the school as well as seven other toppers of the Zillai Kangvai block who scored high marks in the recent HSLC exam, the organisers presented the students with a citation along with an award from the chief guest and the president.

Speaking on the occasion, chief guest Thounaojam Basanta Singh expressed delight in attending the programme, and said that the event was his first programme in the hills district since his appointment as the Education minister. Highlighting the importance of education, he added he will take up various steps for the development of education in the district.

The education minister also mentioned Chief Minister N Biren’s pilot project ‘No school bags day’, in which Saturdays are treated as a special day during which the students will not be bringing books to schools and assemble to learn different songs of the various tribes of the state.
