Churachandpur deputy commissioner Sarath Chandra Arroju on Wednesday announced that the Churachandpur district administration is all set for the upcoming Sangai Festival 2022 which will also be held for the first time in the district.
In a press conference at the Mini Secretariat Complex auditorium, he told the media that the chief minister of Manipur will attend the festival as a chief guest on November 24. The festival will be held at three locations, namely Hiangtam Lamka Public Ground, Khuga (Geljang resort) and at Behiang village.
The main event will be held on November 24 and it will continue till November 26 at Hiangtam Lamka Public Ground where a fashion show will be held with former Miss Universe Lalla Dutta attending as a special guest, the DC said.
The festival will include Musical extravaganzas with promotion of local talent, local handicrafts products and local cuisines, etc. will be the highlight, the DC said.
The DC also urged all entrepreneurs and traders to keep their premises clean and decorated as many tourists are expected. He called for their cooperation to boost the tourism potential of the district.
The Sangai Festival, 2022, which is expected to be held at 13 locations in the state, will start on November 24 in Churachandpur where it will be an all-day affair with a night program at Behiang where a live-streaming of the World Cup 2022 will be held. The festival will culminate at Hiangtam Lanka public ground on the afternoon of November 26, 2022, with no night programme in the town areas.
