Chief Minister N Biren extends best wishes to people of Manipur on Mera Chaoren Houba

Mera Chaoren Houba is a traditional festival heralding good tidings for unity among the diverse communities of hills and valley in the state.

Manipur Chief Minister N Biren has extended best wishes to the people of Manipur on the occasion of Mera Chaoren Houba which falls on Saturday.

Mera Chaoren Houba is a traditional festival heralding the advent of Mera Tha, the seventh month in the Meitei Lunar Calendar. 

The festival aims at preserving and promoting unity and strengthening the bond of brotherhood among all communities in the state for a more harmonious, peaceful and prosperous Manipur.

Biren, in his message, said that the month of Mera brings back the age-old tradition of love and brotherhood between the hill and valley people residing together in Manipur.

The festival assumes significance even more today when various vested interests are attempting to incite feelings of ill-will and enmity among various communities, he stated. 

He expressed his wish that the festival further strengthen the inseparable bond existing since time immemorial between the hill and valley people in the state.
