The Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) on Monday announced that the Central government and ZUF have agreed to hold a political dialogue on April 19 and sought support and cooperation from all sections of Zeliangrong people.
With the mutual signing of peace agreement drawn, and the understanding of each other's positions made, both parties have agreed to hold the political dialogue, stated a release signed by deputy secretary, ministry of information and publicity Alur Seikho.
ZUF urged all ‘Zeliangrong kindred people’ for a collective support and inclusive political mass drive towards asserting the just and deserving rights to live together under one administrative unit of the Union of India, it stated.
The Zeliangrong political movement has its long history of suffering, sacrifices and contributions for the making of free India pre and post independent, it stated.
“Despite our contributions and participation as equal citizens of India, our case has been long neglected and ignored for no reason of our own but the adamant attitude of the past Indian leaders. However, the present Government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, with a high sense of justice and humanity has prioritised our case as one of the issues indispensable to resolve among many,” it mentioned.
Therefore, the case of Zeliangrong historical and political issues is now onstage for political dialogue to be held shortly, it further stated.
The ZUF hopes to present its case before India in the name and cause representing all sections of the Zeliangrong kindred people for political settlement with the Central government, it added.
