Manipur Security Advisor Kuldiep Singh on Thursday announced that the Union Home Ministry has approved a sum of Rs 101.75 crore relief package in order to provide relief to the internally displaced people in Manipur.
During his Manipur visit last week, Union Home Minister Amit Shah had directed the government of Manipur to send a request to the MHA for a relief package for the displaced people, stated a release issued by the security advisor.
It stated that the movement of essential items along National Highway-37 is ensured.
A total of 294 empty vehicles have left Imphal for Jiribam on Thursday, it stated. A total of 220 loaded vehicles have left Noney and 198 loaded tankers and trucks have left Jiribam as well, it added.
It further stated that no incidents of violence were reported in the last 48 hours and the situation remained peaceful and under control in Manipur.
During the last 24 hours in the state, as many as 27 arms, 245 ammunition and 41 bombs in Porompat Police Station jurisdiction of Imphal East district and one arms and two bombs in Bishnupur district have been recovered, it mentioned.
A total of 896 arms and 11,763 ammunition and 200 bombs of different kinds have been recovered till date, it stated.
Curfew relaxation has been made for 12 hours in five valley districts and 10 hours and eight hours in the neighbouring hill districts. There is no curfew in six other hill districts, it added.
It further stated that senior officers have visited the camps in vulnerable areas while strict security measures are taken up in all vulnerable areas. Further, a combined team of State and Central forces have intensified combing operations in many parts of the state, it stated.
Ministers and MLAs of the state are visiting different areas of state and appealing for peace and normalcy by meeting the public and CSOs on a large scale, it mentioned.
Security forces are also organising meetings with CSOs, village heads of different villages and making appeals for peace and normalcy, besides doing their duties of area domination, patrolling, it added.
