CCSK to observe 7th Remembrance Day

The day has been observed in remembrance of the first elected government for an independent Manipur kingdom after British colonial rule left Manipur in October 18, 1948, CCSK president Jeetendra Ningomba said.

The Committee of Civil Societies Kangleipak (CCSK) will organise the 7th Remembrance Day of the first elected government after the British Colonial rule left Manipur as an independent kingdom on October 18, 1948. 

CCSK president Jeetendra Ningomba told media at its head office located at New Checkon, Imphal East on Tuesday that the day has been observed in remembrance of the first elected government for an independent Manipur kingdom after British colonial rule left Manipur in October 18, 1948.

He said Manipur had its first elected government based on universal adult franchise. 

Jeetendra said on that day the forefathers of Manipur, from various areas of the state, irrespective of caste and community, formed the first coalition government at Manipur State Durbar to rule Manipur as an independent kingdom.

He said on the day, discussion on the then political scenario and present political scenario will be discussed. 

He appealed to the people to attend the function to be held on October 18 at Maharaja Chandrakriti auditorium, Palace Compound.
