CCIAN forum extends financial aid

CCIAN Forum general secretary Chandam Sudershan said that the forum has been extending food items and financial aid to the Meitei people affected by the clash since May 15.

CCIAN Forum extended financial aid to Hijam Shanker, who sustained bullet injuries from suspected Kuki militants in the fierce gunfight of Khamenlok which happened on June 13 and 14.

Hijam Shanker, 30, son of Chandrasen of Khurai kongpal Ningthoubung leikai sustained injuries from bullet and splinters from a bomb which hit him on 20 areas on his body. Bedridden Shanker has some of the shrapnel stuck in his body even after most of them have been removed. Family members said that as per the doctor’s advice he needs to get further treatment outside the state but due to lack of financial deficit he remains bedridden at home. Victim family members requested the public to extend support and help in his treatment.

CCIAN Forum general secretary Chandam Sudershan said that the forum has been extending food items and financial aid to the Meitei people affected by the clash since May 15. He also appealed to the people to extend every possible help in saving the life of Shanker.

He also mentioned that the government has already announced extending financial aid to the clash hit victims and appealed to speed up the process and help Shanker in recovering from his injuries sustained from the Khamenlok incident.

Sudershan urged the Intelligence Bureau, government of India to run a fact check why the ethnic clash broke out in the first place and must try to resolve the clash which has greatly affected the innocent civilians.

Victim’s father Chandrasen expressed his son’s wish to go defend the villages in the periphery areas but failed to fulfill his wish as he is bedridden. He also appealed to the people to help his son regain energy to defend villages during the clash.
