CAU Imphal associate professor wins best scientist award

The award, presented by the Plant Protection Association of India, Hyderabad, recognised CAU, Imphal associate professor Shravan M Haldhar's outstanding contributions in the field of Entomology and plant health.

Associate professor of the College of Agriculture, Central Agricultural University, Imphal, Shravan M Haldhar received the ‘Best Scientist Award (Senior Category)’ in International Conference on Plant Health Management (ICPHM-2013) by Plant Protection Association of India, Hyderabad.

The award, presented by the Plant Protection Association of India, Hyderabad, recognised Haldhar’s outstanding contributions in the field of Entomology and plant health.

Dr Haldhar’s extensive research has so far led to identification of 95 insect species of horticultural importance, including new hosts for 11 species. He registered traits specific to various crops and contributed significantly to biodiversity conservation.

His achievements include 16 international and 85 national research papers, 31 technologies for insect-pest management, and a granted patent for the bio-pesticide “Thar Jaivik 41 EC”.

A fellow of The Entomological Society of India, Dr Haldhar has received multiple awards, including B Vasantharaj David Young Scientist Award 2019 and Agriculture Today Young Scientist Award 2019. His leadership is also evident in handling numerous projects, guiding scholars, and participating in international symposiums.

This recognition highlights Shravan M Haldhar’s impactful role in advancing agricultural research and development.
