'Brands needed for success in business'

As many as 32 women from Imphal East district joined the training programme - 15-day Micro Enterprise Development Programme on Sweets and Snacks Items.

NABARD Manipur Regional Office general manager Niangkhavung Guite on Thursday stressed the need of branding a company for entrepreneurs to successfully run their businesses.

She was speaking as a chief guest during the valedictory function of a ’15-day Micro Enterprise Development Programme on Sweets and Snacks Items’ organised by the People’s Development Society at its New Checkon, Imphal East office under the sponsorship of NABARD.

Guite pointed out that the main keys of a good branding are maintaining product quality, low cost, proper presentation and advertisement by ways of providing free samples.

“A company may not be able to collect profit in its initial stage while sticking to all the keys to get good branding. However, within a short period the enterprises will witness a great boom,” she added.

DDM of NABARD, Imphal East I Premjoy said that the skill development training programme is taken up with the objective to provide sustainable livelihood by ways of self-employment to the women of the state.

Various food technicians, entrepreneur management experts of FSSAI have trained the women, he said adding, moreover, the trainees were also taught how to apply for loans from banks to establish their business.

He said that the training programme was a grand success as all the trainees were able to make perfect sweets and snacks. It is believed that all the trainees will be able to get the access to sustainable livelihoods, he added.

More such training programmes on skill development and capacity building for various other fields such as pipe-fitting, tiles-fitting and others for men will also be taken up very soon, he informed.

As many as 32 women from Imphal East district joined the training programme and certificates were also distributed to them. They further expressed their gratitude to the PDS and NABARD for taking up such an initiative of employment generation.

The function was also attended by chairman of Manipur Industries Development Council P Loken and secretary of PDS Th Biramangol as guests of honour.
