A Branch Post Office of Khangabok village, Thoubal district, was inaugurated at the residence of Khundrakpam Akoisana, Khangabok Maisnam Leikai on Monday.
The government-approved BPO was opened under the Director, Postal Services Manipur Division: Imphal and Chief Post Master General, North-East Circle Shillong.
Attending at the inaugural event as guest of honour, R Priyo, Superintendent of Post Office, Manipur Division stated that the newly inaugurated BPO at Khangabok village will be providing services such as booking, delivering and accepting deposit under small POSB and insurance under postal life insurance and Rural Postal life insurance.
He continued that the BPO will be equipped with the RiCT device for use in the booking, delivering something or money. The receipt will be guaranteed immediately to the customers, he added.
He stated that the BPO acts as an agent for the citizens.
With the opening of Khangabok BPO, the state has 638 BPOs in total while another 89 are in the pipeline. Payment of wages of MGNREGS, disbursement of Old aged pension scheme, Kishan fund payment, scholarship payment and others through POSB under DBT will be available at BPO.
He requested the community of Khangabok village to nurture the BPO to a sustainable growth and also with the staff of the BPO.
Giving his keynote address, Khundrakpam Akoisana, president, Voluntary Education Development Social and Cultural Organisation (VEDSCO), Khangabok, stated that Information Communication Technology has become a key media in the present day. The youths of Khangabok will get not only online but offline jobs like parcel, baggage, speed post and others from this BPO. Several kinds of Saving Accounts will also be available here, he said.
Kh. Akoisana also extended his heartfelt gratitude to Union Minister of state for communication Devusinh Chauhan and Union Minister of state for Education and External Affairs RK Ranjan accepted the opening of one BPO at Khangabok.
The inaugural event, which was organised by VEDSCO Khangabok, witnessed the presence of Kh. Rajmohon, former Zilla Parishad member of Khangabok ZP as chief guest, M Rameshwor, former president VEDSCO as president and Karnawjit, Inspector, second sub division, Thoubal as guest of honour respectively. M Thanil has been appointed as the Postmaster of the newly inaugurated BPO.
