Braille, sign language training begins in Churachandpur

During the programme, sign language students will learn fingerspelling, greetings and basic everyday signs and simple sentences along with other classes in the morning.

A Basic Braille, and Indian and American Sign Language class was initiated at the Malsawm Ability Resource Centre at Pearsonmun village, Churachandpur by Centre for Community Initiative (CCI) on Monday.

The event commenced with CCI director Pauzagin Tonsing giving the keynote address. The first batch of the programme was participated by 20 students of Braille and sign language. Pauzagin Tonsing said that the classes for the first batch had been planned to be finished by June 17. He added that CCI is planning to train following batches of students in the near future.

During the programme, sign language students will learn fingerspelling, greetings and basic everyday signs and simple sentences along with other classes in the morning. The Braille students will study various topics like open Braille alphabets, Braille numbers, Braille writing and reading in the afternoon.
