The High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) examination 2022 conducted by the Board of Secondary Education, Manipur (BOSEM) began peacefully with 39,764 students physically taking the examination at 192 examination centres across the state on Tuesday.
On the first day of the examination, one student was expelled for alleged impersonation at Yumnam Huidrom Government High School in Imphal West.

In view of the easing of COVID-19 situation in the state, the state government decided to conduct the examination physically by observing Covid SOP. In the previous year, the board examinations were conducted through Alternative Assessment/ Evaluation Mechanism due to the persisting COVID-19 pandemic.
However, as the pandemic is yet to die, the students and invigilators were made to follow strict Covid appropriate behavior during the examination time in all the centres. Students were seen writing the examination, wearing face masks. Hand wash and hand sanitisers were also provided at the exam centres.

Posters that read ‘Wear Masks and Maintain Social Distancing’ along with ‘use of mobile and any electronic gadgets are strictly prohibited within the examination campus’ were seen at the gates of each examination centre.
BOSEM secretary Sapam Mangijao Singh told the Imphal Free Press that unlike previous years before the pandemic, the number of examination centres has been increased to nearly double and students are advised to occupy one bench each for each candidate. However, due to the lack of examination halls in some examination centres, two students are allowed to sit in one bench by maintaining proper physical distance and following COVID appropriate behaviour, he added.
The HSLC examination which began at 9 am concluded for the day at 12 noon. The entire Class 10 exam 2022 will continue till April 26.
